Dr. Huang Named Massachusetts Myopia Change Agent
I’m honored to share that I’ve been selected as the Massachusetts Change Agent for the American Optometric Association’s Myopia Collective for 2026–2027.
What is the Myopia Collective?
It’s a national AOA initiative to change how our country approaches childhood myopia (nearsightedness). One optometrist is chosen from each state and Washington, D.C. to lead myopia care in their community.
Why it matters
Nearsightedness in kids is rising fast, and about half the world is expected to be nearsighted by 2050. It’s more than needing glasses: the higher a child’s prescription climbs, the higher their lifelong risk of serious eye conditions like retinal detachment, glaucoma, and myopic macular degeneration.
The good news is that we can slow it down, especially when we start early.
What I’ll be doing as Change Agent
- Training in an interactive AOA workshop that combines the latest myopia care with advocacy
- Educating families across Massachusetts about myopia and how to protect kids’ vision
- Advocating for policies that help more children get early eye care and myopia management
- Sharing what works with fellow eye doctors
What this means for your family
Preventing myopia has been my focus for years, and it’s why I started this practice. We offer:

- Myopia-control soft contacts, low-dose atropine drops, and myopia-control glasses
- Simple everyday habits: more outdoor time and the 20-20-20 rule
