Dr. Huang Earns Advanced Certification in Myopia Management

I’m proud to share that I’ve earned the International Academy Certification in Myopia Management (IACMM).

What is IACMM?

It’s an advanced certification from the American Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control (AAOMC). It recognizes eye doctors who have shown expert-level skill in myopia management: helping slow nearsightedness in children and young adults.

What it takes

  • Being a licensed eye doctor who actively practices myopia management
  • Completing an in-depth training program
  • Passing a certification exam
  • Using advanced tools like a topographer, which maps the front of the eye, and a biometer, which measures the eye’s length

Why eye length matters

Nearsightedness gets worse as the eye grows too long. Measuring axial length over time shows whether a child’s treatment is working, often more precisely than checking their glasses prescription alone.

What this means for your family

Your child gets care from a doctor certified in every major myopia treatment, including:

  • Custom ortho-k lenses worn overnight for clear vision all day
  • Myopia-control soft contact lenses
  • Low-dose atropine eye drops
  • Myopia-control glasses
  • Everyday habits like outdoor time and the 20-20-20 rule

Worried about your child’s prescription going up? Let’s make a plan together.
