Here’s a nice visual of the supplements found to prevent age related macular degeneration in the NIH AREDS2 study, from a VitEye’s brochure. I especially like this visual because it shows you what foods the supplements are found in, so you can also incorporate these foods in your diet. I call it “A Colorful Diet” because it is basically a list of pigmented fruits and vegetables. The pigmented retinal epithelium cells that protect your macula from degenerating like pigment, so eating lots of pigmented fruits and vegetables are good for your eyes (and the rest of your body as well).
So the best diet for your eyes (and probably the rest of your body too) is… A Colorful Diet!
